When I was a kid, I absolutely hated wearing snow boots. I grew up in Michigan, and the winters were long and cold. There was always snow on the ground for several months every year, so having good snow boots was a necessity. Nevertheless, the ones I had always annoyed me. I wore the big moon boots, lined with synthetic fur and incredibly warm, but also bulky. I always felt clumsy in all of my winter clothing. Back then, big, warm, bulky winter jackets were in style. I would have to wear snow pants, a winter jacket, and of course the boots. Between all of it, I was always sweating by the time I got to school.
Back then, you needed to sacrifice a little bit of comfort for warmth. You couldn't find snow boots that were very warm without also being bulky. Now don't get me wrong – the moon boots are some of the best things made. I even wear some myself when I am going on an extended walk in the snow, or when we get a cold snap. For more casual use, however, there are much better options available. There are many different kinds of snow boots out there, and all of them have their advantages.

Snow hiking boots have come a long way in the past few years. There is no area that has benefited more from the development of new, high-tech materials than outdoor hiking. Hiking shoes are thinner, lighter, more flexible, and more comfortable than ever before, and snow boots are no exception. They are thoroughly waterproof, very warm, and come in a variety of different styles. Some of them are good for light hikes in a few inches of snow, while other ones will take you through the deepest snow drift without any problem at all.
Of course, for just walking around town, snow work boots can be really good too. They are extremely durable, and will last longer on concrete and asphalt than snow hiking boots will. They are also fairly comfortable, although sometimes they can fit a little bit strangely. You have to exercise a lot of care when you're picking at work boots. If you don't have exactly the right ones for you, you can get blisters – and that can be an extremely unpleasant experience. Fortunately, you can usually avoid this by wearing thick socks. This will also serve the added benefit of keeping your feet even warmer.
